Where can I learn more about guitar theory/guitar scales/guitar chords/etc? Topic: How to write a song on guitar youtube
July 24, 2019 / By Gog
Question: I've been playing guitar for about 2 years now, and I still find that I'm confused or just plain don't know when it comes to guitar theory, guitar scales, guitar chords and how they are constructed, how songs and solos are put together, how the neck is designed, hell if you threw out some random chord at me and told me to play it I would probably look at you dumb. My guitar teacher has gone over these things before, but I don't know I'm still confused about a lot of it. I really really really want to learn these things but I've been searching and can't find any good resources to go off of. Does anyone know any good books, ebooks, websites, or whatever else? I'm looking for something that starts from scratch, thanks in advance for any help.

I've been playing for years off and on and I'm still not very good, it really takes hard practice. It also depends on what you are going for, if you are looking to get into lead guitar then you have to practice more scales like blues scales to stretch your fingers and get fast and going between frets and strings.. Here is a website that lists all the scales for guitar: http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/guitar_scales.php If you are interested in singing and writing songs then learn your general chords and power chords, then work on your strumming and timing. Once you've got it nailed trying singing while playing, this is another thing you have to practice because the timing is different. It's like me asking you to stand up, pat your head with one hand while doing a circle on your stomach with your other hand. Practice with your favourite artists music, you can find most guitar tabs and chords here: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ As a bonus with the internet there are thousands of guitar players on youtube giving you tips, demos, and much more to teach you different techniques. So search and learn as much as you can and keep practicing. Hope this helps.. All the best. Cheers.

Scales and chords are called by the root note. It's pretty much that basics, scales help you to hear notes that are similar and sound good together. For example if you're just starting out with jamming with another guitar if someone plays chords and someone plays scales you play with the name ones like G or A or E or C. It's a good way to get a feel of the sound of guitar. Another thing that's great about chords and scales is it can help you to write songs. Knowing the chords and remembering the fingering for them can help you come up with your own chord progression. As for scales it can help you come up with little riffs just by experimenting with the notes in a certain scale. It's a good way to come up with riffs and notes as a beginning song. After awhile once you know chords and scales it's a lot easier to come up with more complicated chord progressions and riffs for guitar. Being a good guitarist is all about experimenting and knowing chords and scales is a great way to start out.

Invest in lessons with an instructor that teaches you how to read music, not just tab. It's really the best way. I don't know when the talent show is, but learning guitar and learning how to read music is not something you can do overnight. It takes practice and committment and probably a good 6-8 months of diligence.

These days you can learn how to play guitar over the internet. Check out Mark McKenzie's guitar video lessons here: http://www.jamoramaguitar.com The videos are very easy to follow and to my surprise extremely helpful even for advanced guitar players. For beginners I would have to say this is a gold mine. I was able to improve my skills in just under 4 weeks and I am an intermediate-to-advanced guitar player; I've been playing guitar for the past 6 years and I was on stage with my band a lot of times. I live in New York City, I wanted to go to a pro guitar teacher but that would have cost me over $1400 per month. Good thing with this internet, $1400 it's a lot of money for me. Good luck!

C G When your blue eyes turn to gray Am when you think its not okay E you will see the new day. C G When you want the world to stop. Am Making it freeze like a one day drop E soon youll see that its not only here A7 Cadd9 When the moon shines down on us filling dreams till dawn till F13 dusk A7 E7 Saying its okay im not gonna stray. Hope that helps, took me a while but it fits! If you dont know the chords, look them up on a chord diagram site EDIT, the notes wont stay above the words chosen, so just put them together how you want!
