Question: I am trying to do some research on how Alcohol (Liquor) can be used for medical purposes. I heard it can be used as a pain killer or for healing wounds. I know it used to be used by people for hundreds and thosandths of years before modern day medicine became popular. Can somebody point out to some online articles and websites that talk about this type of thing?

MJ will never be legal simply because you can grow it at home year round, produce the best smoke ever and not have to give the government a dime! MJ does not need processing like cigarettes and alcohol, both of which are way more dangerous than MJ and legal??? The government makes more money on it when it is illegal. Bottom line pharmaceutical companies can't charge you 10,000 times more than it cost and government can't tax it or profit in any way. These are the reason MJ is illegal. MJ could solve so many problems and help so many people it is such a shame that we let our government control this plant. This does not need to be controlled by the government. Why should this plant be treated as a drug? It is a plant, no processing, no chemicals, etc. What is with all these "if it's used by doctors it's OK?" people That's what you CAN"T DO WITH MJ. IT GROWS YEAR ROUND IN EVERY STATE INDOOR AND OUTDOOR. It should NEVER have been left in government hands. This was put here for us all not just for a few hurting people. I use because it helps relieve pain and stress AND IT FEELS GOOD JUST LIKE ALL THOSE ABC STORES OWNED BY THE GOVERNMENT SELLING BOTTLED DEATH MAKES THE PEOPLE WHO USE IT FEEL GOOD. WHAT IS SO DAMN WRONG WITH FEELING GOOD ANYWAY?, but it should make no difference, it's about REAL freedom to make YOUR OWN choices.

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/avCyr I am 100% for legalizing it. ANYTHING to take away a humans suffering, when at the cost of NO ONE else, or any animal, is the RIGHT thing to do. Some people say, well, kids are getting the marijuana from doctors, with fake medical issues. Well, I say, where are their parents? Why is a doctor giving marijuana to kids who don't need it? If they are, then they need to be investigated. That is a separate issue to those with cancer, who need a drug to alleviate their pain, when the prescribed medication coming from pharmaceutical companies (in the drug, and medication business for profit, and gain, meaning MONEY, not helping people) don't work, and don't take pain away, as they should, and are supposed to. I never minded a HIGH person, as long as they weren't a danger to me, or anyone else. LOL! There is no danger in folks smoking marijuana. Sometimes, they do silly things, and make me laugh. What can be wrong with that? The world would be a much nicer place, if more people were out of misery, and pain. I believe Marijuana, for the very ill, is a road to that aim. Most of them don't have much time left on this earth, anyway, so let their last years of life, at least be filled with as many smiles, not just for them, but for others, as possible. Wouldn't you rather see a family member with cancer, be relieved of pain, and agony, and smiling, and functioning, rather than see them crying in pain, suffering in their beds, or in a hospital room? I would.

Allard Originally Answered: I don't smoke marijuana, but it seems much less dangerous than alcohol. Why is alcohol legal and pot isn't?
During the Cannabis prohibition trials in the 1920s and 30s, this was a very different time in America. This was smack dab in the middle of the Great depression. Racial tensions were very high due to the lack of jobs and high amount of immigration from Mexico. Harry Anslinger was the lead man of the anti-cannabis movement. He was not a researcher or doctor or scientist, he was a propaganda artist. As most of his work went to tie ing cannabis to blacks and Mexicans to get the white people in the senate (who were all white and likely racist) vote against pot. In fact, the only scientific studies they ever preformed on cannabis pointed against prohibition and even showed cannabis to have Anti-cancer properties. As of Today: The Drug Enforcement Agency gets all of their grants and occupation opportunities for the enforcement of drug laws. Cannabis *(weed) makes up over 95% of all illegal drug trades or charges in the entire country. They also are the only group allowed to research weed, as well as the only group that produces commercials, goes to school and educates the public about weed. So that means legalizing cannabis would dramatically reduce their money flow and power and cost many of them their jobs. So they will fight to keep it illegal regardless of what weed does to you or how bad alcohol and cigarettes are. It's not about a plant, its about power and control.
Allard Originally Answered: I don't smoke marijuana, but it seems much less dangerous than alcohol. Why is alcohol legal and pot isn't?
Because the government is corrupt, racist, stupid, and messed up. Cigarettes are FAR far FAR more dangerous than marijuana. It causes lung cancer and kills millions of ppl a year. pot does not cause lung cancer or kill anyone ever. Yet cigarettes are legal and pot isn't. Pot is an herb with medicinal properties. That's like making cocaine legal and milk illegal. Marijuana was made illegal as a way to arrest and imprison mexicans. Mexicans were smoking marijuana and the racists wanted to do something about the mexicans so they made pot illegal which gave em a reason to arrest them. There is a documentary on history channel about this. If the government ever got sense and was not so corrupt and greedy it would ban tobacco and legalize pot.

This is true. Alcohol is much more dangerous than marijuana. My theory is pharmaceutical companies don't want to compete with what many consider the best medicine on earth so they lobby lawmakers against legalization. I also think politicians fear that they would be considered radical for supporting marijuana decriminalization even though the majority of the population actually contradicts this.
