Anyone living in New Mexico and loving it? Topic: Carolina research
July 24, 2019 / By Lyle
Question: I am considering leaving hot sticky North Carolina, for a bit more drier climes. I will be looking for a job in the medical field (good luck for any job right now, yeah, I know), so I'll need to be near hospitals or 'burbs of a sort, but would still like to see pretty sunsets and or scenery at times as well. I have my 75 year old mom with me, who will be requiring some programs for 'spry septuagenarian's' (I've done the research on that, and found out that NM has a lot more to offer for the seniors than does NC) and a husband who is a renaissance guy, can do 'most anything, roofing, landscaping, etc.--Any thoughts? Am desperate and don't wish to spend another minute in humidity (although during the winter it is nonexistent, but the summers are long here and BORING!) Thanks.

I've lived in NM most of my life and I love it here. The weather is reasonable, the skies are always beautiful, and best of all there's lots of space. Our driver's are a little nuts, but you'll adjust :) The temperatures vary wildly since we're a big state. Expect hot summer's down south and a steep and sudden turn into winter (this is a desert after all). The north is a bit cooler and the winter's come on slower and steadier.

I totally agree with you. I don't mind Mexicans coming here as long as they do it the legal way. Actually in a lot of countries there students are required to learn English. But I don't agree with taking over mexico. I do believe that there should be consequences for mexico to have to pay for not keeping their citizens in their country. If so many people are wanting to leave they are obviously doing something wrong.
If only we had a more credible, measured, less egocentric "hybrid" of Trump who would tell the same truth, but in a calm, rational manner. Trump is right about almost everything, but is so obnoxious he destroys his real power. I'm amazed that he keeps rising in the polls. The only explanation for that I can see, is that the true majority of U.S. citizens finally do see the "true/secret agenda" of illegal invaders, mexico, and their supporters. That is to reconquer the U.S. ("reconquistas"), or at least (to start) create "aztlan". If we had a truly rational version of Trump, the citizens of the U.S. would rise in a groundswell, build the impenetrable wall, deport millions of illegals (just as Truman did), amend or repeal the 14th amendment (no more anchor babies). In short, have a fighting chance to preserve TRUE diversity of the U.S. and not be overwhelmed by the aggressive culture of mexicans (who refuse to simply add their limited part to the assimilated diversity of the U.S.)

Can you take that hot weather though? It's much milder and dry here too. I'm in California, the east bay area of San Francisco. The north bay is the best area here btw. Less crime and less traffic unless you work in the other part.

New Mexico is awesome! Surprisingly, it's one of the most open-minded places in the country and the culture is vibrant and fun.

My husband writes beautiful letters to me, I have asked for letters instead of presents from my boys also. There have been so many loving words in my life by different people. I think the one that came to me first when I read you question was from my dying mother. My mother was wonderful, she lived with my family for the last years of her life and died last year in her late nineties. She was our families heart. Her last words were to me, she said, get in bed with me, I want to hold my baby one more time, so I did, she held me, put her hands thru my hair, and sang songs she had sung to me as a child. She then told me she loved me and that I had given her life sunshine every day..then she smiled, touched my face and died.
