The Five People You Meet in Heaven? Topic: Elements of writing a news story
May 25, 2019 / By Ileen
Question: For those of you who have read The Five People You Meet in Heaven, what would you say the main crisis is in the story? I need to write a news article for each plot element in the book, and for the crises portion, I am just stuck. I know that Eddie's general issues are being dead and feeling like his life was meaningless, but my teacher said that this article should not focus on the character's struggle, but rather a specific crisis... I am so confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Your test case does not exist. There is nobody that has, "never done a bad thing in her life" according to the standard needed. Romans 3:10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Isaiah 53:6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. 1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Many many other verses show this. So, since there is nobody that is good enough to get to heaven, the only way we can get there is by God's grace that is freely offered to all. You said it yourself. One asked to have his sins forgiven and one has not. 1 John 5:10-12 Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. (11) And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. (12) He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. By the way, the thief, murderer, rapist should not expect to have any rewards in heaven.

The difference is repentance. If a thief or murderer confesses and asks the Lord for forgiveness, they will be accepted. But repentance requires that person to turn away from what they were doing. One must also live a life in service to Christ. I'm not condemning you, but as an atheist, your disbelief must be repented for. If you don't believe in God, then why would it matter. Even those who profess to be Christians are in jeopardy of failing to see the Lord.
