We'd lose marvellous words like 'joke' and James would be spelled 'Games' - we need the 'j' sound as well as 'g'. You wouldn't save dictionary space because the words would still exist and would be added to the c and g sections. You really haven't thought this through.

Reforming English spelling would cut off new learners including children from everything publish heretofore. This degree of cultural amensia is too high a price to pay. Besides, tinkering with only two letters does not address the main problem with the Latin alphabet for English. The English language has 45 phonemes but only 26 letters. Ideally we would have an alphabet with 45 letters. As it is we waste several letters like q, always with u and pronounced like k; the letter x is really a combo of k and s (tax = taks) or sometimes z (xylem). The letter c just repeats the sounds of k or s, etc. Even when we double up and use two letters for a sound we do not get it right. We use 'th' for two sounds, one voiced and the other unvoiced, e.g. thick and thin versus this, that, and thine. We use both 'ph' and 'f' for the same sound. Sorry, but the problem is hopeless.

In the superstore, fruits are usually selected far too soon. Some are rocks, many are wrong. Some of the fresh vegetables are right (zucchini, onions, garlic, lettuce, greens, and a few others) so I'd have to go with vegetables.

There is a vague similarity because Russian is primarily derived from the Greek alphabet. The English alphabet comes from Latin. Both have their origins in Phoenician writing.
