County website catering to attorneys?

County website catering to attorneys? Topic: Public access case search
June 17, 2019 / By Arline
Question: so there is this website for the county in which I reside. It's the clerk of court's website. It allows you to perform comprehensive searches of cases, etc., but to review a document you need to go to the courthouse. an attorney doesn't need to do this and can access that document online on that website. these documents are public records according to my state's record law. Is this legal? If I can go to the courthouse and review that same document that I can't review on this website

Those lawyers probably also pay a fee for that service, either directly or the county bar association (which the lawyers would belong to and pay dues to) pays the fee. Just because a record is a public record doesn't mean the county is required to provide Internet access to the document for everybody. The law only requires that the public have access to the document, which you do. The law does not specify the means of that access, or provide access to the document in the manner that is most convent for you.

To answer your first question...when in jail...prior to release a check of an individuals record will determine if there are any outstanding warrants elsewhere. If there are outstanding warrants, a "hold" is placed upon the individual. Upon release from incarceration, they are immediately picked up by the agency placing the "hold." Because your BFF neglected to complete community service, they violated their probation. The court can "vacate" the probation and send your BFF back to serve any time originally ordered by the court.

I don't know about TN, but in CA: He will have to wait in County 1 until his charges are resolved before being transferred to County 2. Sometimes, the Counties can be coordinated to reach a "global" resolution (i.e. a sentence that satisfies both the new offense and the PV) - but he still has to wait in jail until the transfer to be released. For failure to do community service, he might not have to serve jail time, especially if he earns some time while he waits (I don't know TN law, though). However, the Court may change his community service time to jail time, and apply the credit he's earned while waiting. He may simply be put on probation in the new case, with some fines, and have his probation revoked and reinstated on his current probation and allowed to finish his community service. That is, of course, if he admits guilt. If he wants to fight it, he'll be waiting longer.

Probation violations usually involve jail time. You get probation to avoid being in jail, but also sign and agree to certain provisions.

It is extremely unlikely that you will be arrested on the warrant when you show up in another county court. Especially a warrant for a traffic infraction The system does not usually work that way. They do not pay anyone to monitor warrants very closely. Police will check for warrants, but a court will not check for warrants in other jurisdictions.

I'm not trying to be rude, but you have an excuse for everything. You couldn't find someone to take you to go to court? You could have just paid the ticket via mail right away, instead of waiting. You could have even paid it in installments if you had just taken care of it immediately. I got a ticket in central TN a few years ago and live on the Gulf Coast. I took care of everything by mail. Your best bet is to call the courthouse and ask them what you need to do, ASAP.
