Question: In the story The Odyssey by Homer ancient Greek people believed that gods up in Mountain Olympus controlled their fate. Back then it wasn't unusual for the gods to benefit those they favored, and to punish those they did not. In the story The Odyssey by Homer there is many characters that play out that role during the story. One such character that plays an important role would be Athena the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, arts, industry, justice and skill. Athena has many interactions in the life of Odysseus a skilled and passionate warrior which help Odysseus succeed. Such examples include when Athena tells Telemachos the son of all powerful Odysseus , “Then if hear that your father is alive, and on his way back, for all your wearing and tearing you can bear for another year”pg17. Athena is already interfering with Telemachos life by sending him off to find his father. Also Athena is giving Telemachos the strength he needs to find out if his father is alive or if he is indeed dead. That helps out Telemachos so he can make the right choice within his household.

In the story, The Odyssey, by Homer, ancient Greeks believed that gods living atop of Mountain Olympus controlled their fate. Back then it wasn't unusual for the gods to benefit those they favored, and to punish those they did not. In the story, The Odyssey, by Homer, there are many characters that play out that role during the story. One such character that plays an important role would be Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, arts, industry, justice and skill. Athena has many interactions in the life of Odysseus, a skilled and passionate warrior. Her interference helps Odysseus succeed ---HOW DOES HE SUCCEED?????. Such examples include when Athena tells Telemachos, the son of all powerful Odysseus, “Then if hear that your father is alive, and on his way back, for all your wearing and tearing you can bear for another year.” (17) Athena is already interfering with Telemachos life by sending him off to find his father. Also, Athena is giving Telemachos the strength he needs to find out if his father is alive or if he is indeed dead. That helps out Telemachos so he can make the right choice within his household. YOUR STORY IS CONFUSING---YOU SHOULD SEPARATE TELEMACHOS' STORY FROM ODYSSEUS'. YOUR FIRST PARAGRAPH INTRODUCES ODYSSEUS BUT LEAVES YOU HIGH AND DRY IN THE NEXT WHEN YOU DO A 180 DEGREE TURN BY TALKING ABOUT ATHENA INTERFERING WITH TELEMACHOS LIFE. SHE INTERFERS WITH BOTH LIVES BUT I THINK YOU NEED TO SOMEHOW RELATE THE TWO OTHER THAN THEY ARE FATHER AND SON. (sorry about the CAPS, I just want you to see my comments easily) -- make sure you underline the title The Odyssey in your essay. The best way to proofread is to read it outloud (silly, but you will hear your mistakes!) :)

The whole thing is overkill. Here's what your trying to say: Tony added that the role of civil society must be properly applied since the success in democracy transition in many countries is greatly determined by this sector. Civil society should not only speak critically about foreign investors and other elements to deter government control, but also denounce the political parties and investors. The end result is that civil society will be root of democracy. In addition, this essay is all crap. While I agree with less political control, foreign investment is what will allow for growth in the oncoming years. Welcome to globalization my friend.

I have made suggestions for flow and clarity in the text. I hope they are helpful. Tony added that civil society is actually the root of democracy; therefore the role of civil society must be properly played, because the success of a democratic transition in many countries in this world is primarily determined by the behavior of its civil society. Civil society should also speak out critically concerning foreign influence and other elements so that those entities are not allowed to control the government or the nation's political parties and investors.

From the story "The Odyssey" by Homer, we learn that the ancient Greeks believed that Gods on Mount Olympus controlled their fates. It was not unusual for the Gods to bestow benefits on those they favored and punish those they didn't. In Homer's "Odyssey" there are many characters that play these roles throughout the story. One such character interaction is between Athena, the patron Goddess of wisdom, war, arts, industry, justice and skill, and Odysseus. Odysseus is a skilled and passionate warrior, and Athena intercedes many times in his life to help him succeed. One such example is when Athena tells Telemachos (the son of all-powerful Odysseus), "Then if you hear that your father is alive, and on his way back, for all your wearing and tearing you can bear it for another year" (Pg.17). Athena is interfering with Telemachos' life by sending him off to find his father. But she is also giving him the strength he needs to go find out if Odysseus is alive or if he is, indeed, dead. This helps Telemachos so he can make the right choice for his life and family's well being.

Roy Originally Answered: How do I properly use the word "incredulous"?
First of all, that's an incorrect use of "which." You use "which" after a comma. If there is none, use "that." Second, this sentence doesn't make sense to me. These public service institutions are incredulous - as in, they weren't aware of what was going on? But if they're being exposed, it means they ARE aware of wrongdoing. So, I'm not sure what you're trying to say in this sentence. If you want to explain further, I'll check back and review once more. Forgetting the lack of clarity for the moment - you would say: Both Inside Job and Murder City expose public service institutions that are incredulous at their own wrongdoing. (I prefer "both" to "each" for a better flow, but it isn't necessary.) Context would have been helpful here.
