Hi, Marijuana: Persuasive Essay In California there is still more controversial debate over the use of marijuana for medical purposes. The advantage with using marijuana for medical reason is, it eases the pain, and relaxes them so they can enjoy the rest of their life. For these terminally ill patients the marijuana also makes them happy and enjoyable to be around. The disadvantage is that after smoking it for an extended period of time the majority of the patients will develop lung cancer. That is not so bad for them considering there is no cure for their disease. My stand point on this subject is that it is a good idea for marijuana to be used as a medical drug for the treatment in terminal illnesses. The state law proposition 215 which says, that pot is legal to smoke if you are using it for medical reasons in terminally ill cases. This proposition was on the November ballot and was voted into effect. The federal law that was put into effect no to long ago, states that using marijuana for any reason including medical reasons is illegal. Read the complete essay here:

Graffiti should be considered "street art". Newspapers should only be online and not printed on paper. All teenagers should have an 10pm- 5am curfew on school days that they need to be home. Human population should be controlled worldwide to reduce problems with food security issues. If you neglect your pet's needs by overfeeding them / not giving them enough exercise, you can be charged by law, therefore parents who overfeed / not give their children opportunities to exercise and their children are obese should be taken to court for neglect. Argue for or against. The government should give $5000 to every high-school graduate that takes a 1-year gap year before college/university to travel overseas and learn "life-skills". The government should pay young people who turn 18 before they lose their virginity, as incentive to prevent young people becoming parents and to allow them to focus on school and being a child. Young people who don't move out of home at 18 should pay board to their parents. Instead of just being able to drink alcohol at a certain age, young people should have to sit and pass an exam that ensures they understand what alcohol does to the body and its consequences, before being allowed to purchase and consume alcohol. They will be issued with a card similar to a driver's license and must have this on them when consuming alcohol.

I used to teach persuasive writing when I taught 10th grade English. Here are some of my favorite topics my students came up with over the years: Why it's important for all women to be screened for HPV Why smoking should be banned in public places Why people should change their diets as a way to prevent certain types of cancer Why marijuana should NOT be legal Why there should be no curfew for minors Why schools need to do a better job handling bullying Why the driving age should be lower Why capital punishment should be illegal *You could also take the opposite stance on any of these if you choose. Hope that helped!

Okay, so smoking was not a bad idea. You could debate whether or not smoking should be outlawed in apartment communities considered air vents are shared and non-smokers develop lung cancer from second-hand smoke. You could debate that the smoking age be raised from 18 to 21, considering that is the drinking age, and smoking is considered a drug just as alcohol is. You could persuade the topic that Pres. Obama has been discussing, whether or not an extra two hours should be added onto the school day to help raise test scores, more students to become proficient. You could do the old standard of whether or not abortion should be legal. Controversial subjects make excellent topics. Those are just a few ideas.
