Need to pick a computer for college next year?

Need to pick a computer for college next year? Topic: The best music for homework
May 27, 2019 / By Destiny
Question: I am going off to college and I am having trouble deciding what to get. Everyone recommends a MAC but they are so pricey and I think I prefer PC anyway. I was considering getting a large laptop that would primarily be for papers and homework to be used in my dorm. Then, I was thinking about maybe purchasing a cheap netbook that I could easily carry from class to class since they all have wifi in them. But I guess I feel a bit ridiculous for buying two computers, even though it will still be cheaper than a mac. Then a friend of mine recommended an ultrabook, or a lenovo laptop to solve the problem

It depends on what you need it for to be honest! If you are going to be doing things like graphic design or music composition, then definitely go with the mac since there are better programs to do your job. If you are just using it for internet and homework though, then it's really just personal preference. DON'T get a netbook though...those toys are not worth the money since they really can't handle much. You don't need a large laptop either unless you need the extra screen space; a 13 or 15 inch computer should be fine and probably won't be more than 5 or 6 pounds. But yeah, don't let your hipster friends talk you into getting a mac if you don't need one. I got mine because I'm a music major and needed logic pro and a computer that doesn't get viruses; not because it's the "cool" thing to have. :P

Brandeis has a much better reputation, and since it is larger than Richmond and close to Boston, it will likely have more opportunities for internships and the like to prepare you for top business schools. I would definitely go to Brandeis, which would also be better in case you want to do something else, since it's pretty good in everything. Just a note - Don't do early decision just to increase your chances of getting in somewhere. Only do it if you are absolutely sure that you want to go there academically, socially, geographically, and financially.

URichmond is pretty good. I think the graduate admission officer would put more weight on GPA, GMAT, work experience and other stuff than where you went for undergrad.

GPA is very important when academic advisors look at college applications but it isn't everything at the same time. Your community service is outstanding and you will definitely stand out. Apply for the colleges you want to and I think you have a fair chance of getting in. Your essay will also help a lot if you talk about why you should get in. Good luck and I hope you get in! :)

Personally, i've been thinking about the same thing. I would go with the 2 year at a CC then transfer to a university for the last 2 years. you will save tons of money and in a way, you kinda get a "second chance" since the universities look at your CC efforts rather than HS, but since you have a good gpa and act score, that shouldnt be a problem. BUT, if the 'dorm experience is something you really are looking forward to and dont wanna miss out on it, by all means goaa ahead with it! You only get that once. Thats ultimately your choice. But you are there for an education, so I would do CC for 2 years. You'd save yourself so much debt in the long run. You can get the same quality education in both places so there really isnt a difference if you find a good CC. Besides, get your generals done. there and when you transfer you should have time to figure out your major. Good luck to you , I hope I helped :)
